Wardrobe Needs circa 1963

On our recent trip to Melbourne I was introduced to this little beauty of a book – McCall’s Sewing Book.

Originally published in 1963, it features some glorious vintage clothing illustrations. It’s quite comprehensive, covering everything from fabric facts through to tools of the trade and decorating ideas. However, my favourite part started on page 1, Chapter 1 – ‘Building a New You’. Sub categories include ‘Your Goal – Fashion Perfection’ which includes tips on how to do a facial check and colour check! Ladies, next time we see you shopping at Tessuti you might like to keep this little piece of fashion advice in mind…

And how about this pearl of wisdom for your wardrobe needs at home?

Damn, if only I’d known sooner that my disdain for housework was all down to my inappropriate wardrobe!
