Pattern Review – Vogue 2946
Our youngest staff member Jackie (who turned 20 yesterday ….many happy returns xxx) made up this fabulous top using the very sophisticated Oscar De La Renta Vogue 2946 pattern – View A.
The only changes made were eliminating the pleat detail at the back. The neckline is quite low – so something to consider checking if making this up.This is probably due to the fact that Jackie cut out a size 10 – I feel she could have made up the size 8 – but it still works worn like this over a fitted top and looks fantastic in Tessuti’s 100% Linen Pinstripe in ‘String/Silver lurex stripe’ – the lurex is very subtle and runs along the edge of the cream stripe. You can see it and the overlocked edging on the frill if you click on the image below to get a closer look.
* Background fabric is 100% Cotton ‘Crazy Olive’.
This Vogue top pattern is definitely worth a try.
NOTE: Worth a mention is that Jackie wore a long line cardi over this and the effect was lovely with the frills falling down the front. Also the linen used in this top is a medium weight and has a softer handle to it ( less crushy ). Linen blends with silk, cotton or viscose would work well too.

I have been curious about this pattern…it is great to see it made up. I would neve have thought to make it in linen…fabulous! I also love the fabric used as your back-drop.
Is really pretty. I like the volume it brings to the outfit, without letting it look too baggy and undefined. And Happy belated Birthday, Jackie!
Gosh, this looks so gorgeous. It has that effortlessy chic looks about it. Love it.
This is such a pretty, stylish top. I really like it in linen.
I never would have thought to make that top in linen, but it reallly works. I love how it looks layered over the long sleeve tee. Well, Jackie just sold a few more of these patterns for Vogue!
the blouse is fantastic! I would never had thought to tone down the “fancy” blouse. I love the linen, edges and fitted shirt underneath! great job, cindy
Absolutely gorgeous! I am manking it! Which is the typical bust size of Jackie? I only ask tofigure out which size to cut.
Hi Adriana,
Jackie’s bust measurement is
83cm (32 and a half inches)… in Australian standards this is a small 8.
Let us know how yours turns out.. I am going to try this out too.
LOVE this!
What a fabulous top! Hmmm, if Jackie’s a small size 8 and she made the size 10, I’ll have to go one size up.
Collette .- I love the treatment they have done on this pattern. The original model seems too, as saying: “sweet”. However in the linen cloth is modern and perfect. congratulations. greetings, Paco
