Pattern Review – Vogue 8380

We spent an enjoyable afternoon at Emma’s ‘High Tea’ baby shower, held at her parent’s place a couple of weekends ago. Here she is, looking an absolute vision in this dress she whipped up for the occasion.

The pretty printed fabric is Tessuti’s 100% silk crepe de chine ‘Blue Floral Blooms’ (in stock) and the contrasting strap/tie is 100% silk textured weave in ‘Mink’. Emma made this stunning maxi dress using one her favourite dress patterns – Vogue 8380 – view B.

Emma (who is due next month) added to the length of the dress (slighty more to the front than the back – to allow for her gorgeous belly) and also to the length of the bodice to allow for her other blossoming bits!

At the waist inset, just under the bodice, Emma added slightly more to the width and flared the pattern out at the lower sides to allow for more comfort and room. The tie for the casing (which forms the straps) was made longer too….and here you have a perfect breezy maxi dress.

Emma received fabulous and very useful presents from family and friends, along with some lovely handmade gifts. Above is a lovely throw/travel baby blanket made by Emma’s mum, from Tessuti’s Animal House and Beige ‘Multi Stitch Stripe’ cotton, trimmed with reversible two-tone spot, double-sided satin ribbon. Just too cute for words.

I only wish that I looked this good pregnant!!!
