Great use for press-stud tape.
Ever thought to use cotton press-stud tape as a trim on a garment?
Last summer Georgia created a great effect on a dress she made from Vogue 8232 in Tessuti’s Cotton/ Elastane ‘Punk Splash Bloom'(sold out), using both sides of this black cotton press-stud tape, found in our stores. Looks great doesn’t it?
This was Georgia’s first attempt at making up this pattern, (see her latest here) – she found the neckline gaped a bit at the front only. Since the dress was already cut out in this fabric, Georgia created a tuck pleat on either side of her neckline. Recutting the neck facing (as the new reshaped neckline). In this case it worked out great, but it’s always best to cut out fitted bodices in calico, before cutting into your precious fabric. This is a really good habit to get into when sewing!
The dress is beautiful. No wonder the fabric ran out, it’s sooo pretty. I should take your advice with the calico as I usually mismatch the neckline and the sides end up off place.
the tape looks great – great combo on the pink dress!
That is great!!!
The tape gives a wonderful effect.
I actually feel the pintucks were quite serendipitous as they add a bit of interest and texture which suits this fabric pattern. (The yellow polka-dot version, maybe not so much 🙂
beautiful dress…beautiful fabric!
