Dust Storm over Sydney
September 22, 2009
This photo is not in sepia.
Our daughter Claudia woke us up at 6.30am this morning to ask ‘Why is the sky orange?’. This dust storm stretches over Sydney as far as Newcastle and Wollongong, the skies are a blood orange and it’s an eerie sight!
Although this may be a natural phenomenon, it brings home the Climate Change issue to everyone!
unbelieveable huh!
I woke this morning and felt like I was in a sci fi movie with this alien orange light coming through the shutters it was very surreal
great pic! I took some too and popped one up on my blog
I flew this morning from Melbourne to Sydney…hovered over Sydney for 30 mins and then the flight returned to Melbourne.
Amazing photo!
Oh I heard about this from a friend in Sydney. Sounds dreadful.
There was a fantastic story on this on the 7.30 report. I'm not a climate change skeptic at all, but it looks like this has more to do with Lake Eyre getting decent rain for the first time in many years. There are tiny animals that lie dormant for 300 years for these rains to come! Amazing seeing the life that just burst out of parched cracked ground, for just a short time (of those poor baby pelicans!)
Once everything dried out, it turned into a massive dust cloud that travelled east.
