Laura – Winner of the 2009 Tessuti Awards

This week, we’re catching up with Laura Keogh, 2010 winner of the Little Black Dress category. Laura was a student at Melbourne’s Kangan Institute when she took out the top prize of a trip to New York. That little adventure set the wheels in motion for an exciting adventure that has led her to start  a career in the fashion industry.

What have you been up to since you won the Tessuti Awards?
Since the tessuti awards in 2010, I have been working in the fashion industry.  With my Tessuti  prize I flew to New York, I spent almost a month exploring NYC, I then flew to London, traveled through europe then came across a job opportunity with a women’s wear label in east London and ended up living in London for the next 6 months.  I then returned to Melbourne and now work for a local women’s wear wholesale company as a product developer.

Did winning the Tessuti Awards change your career or personal life in any way?
Tessuti gave me the opportunity to travel overseas, which led to the beginning of my career in the fashion industry.

What words of encouragement would you give to anyone considering entering the 2013 Tessuti Awards?
Go for it!
