So we’ve posted about the Melbourne Christmas dinner but would you like to see our frocks?
After spotting this blog post way back in Oct 2009, I stalked every vintage pattern seller until I finally found one on eBay a few months back. Vintage Vogue 7164.
After angst-ing over what fabric to make it up in, I then combined that angst with my what-am-I-going-to-make-for-the-Christmas-party angst and then after I added my mandatory pre-Christmas when-the-hell-am-I-going-to-get-time-to-make-something angst, I finally pulled my proverbial together and finished it with – I kid you not -twenty minutes to spare before I was out the door.
The fabric is another beautiful tie-dyed linen (sold out) that I wanted to make up into a simple garment with clean lines, and this pattern fit the bill perfectly. As is the way with most vintage patterns – and in combo with my limited height – I had to take quite a bit off the length. But what I love most of all about the dress is the in-seam pockets.
And the lovely Leisl in another version of Vogue 8387 (OOP)….
And our newest staff member, Evelyne, in Simplicity 2588 (more details here)…
See y’all in 2011!
