Pattern Review – New Look 6848 and Simplicity 2588
Meet lovely Libby, she’s been attending sewing and fitting classes with Bernadette Doherty and loving every minute of it! Here are two gorgeous dresses Libby made in our Japanese cottons.
Above is Edo Garden Mauve made up in dress pattern New Look 6848. Libby cut view D and altered the pattern slightly by cutting the skirt of the dress more A-line than the pattern, because she usually needs a bit extra around the hips.
Below is Hokko Bowtie Red (some still available in Chatswood) made up in Simplicity 2588. Libby says that she made only slight alterations to the fit of the bodice and that choosing the flared skirt option was just perfect for the lovely soft light-weight cotton.
Aren’t they pretty? A little birdie tells me that Libby’s multi talented, not only is she a wonderful seamstress, she’s a talented painter and artist as well!
I've never noticed that lovely Simplicity pattern. Libby looks stunning in it.
Both dresses look wonderful on Libby. S2588 – one of my favourite patterns in my stash.
Lovely dresses!
Libby looks wonderful in these dresses. She really knows how to choose patterns that suit her!
