New (and FREE digital) Athina Top Pattern
Meet our latest pattern – the Athina Top! Those who follow us over on Instagram may remember that, back in June, we published this photo of Silva wearing a tunic length version. We had more than a few enquiries for the pattern and so here she is!
This boxy style top is a quick and easy sew. The design features an extended shoulder, dropped sleeve and there are two length options available. Alternatively you can lengthen at the hem to make a longline tunic version like this one. Athina also works fabulously as a beach cover-up.
The pattern is ideal for woven fabrics including linen, lightweight wool (e.g. wool crepe), and cottons. She also looks great when worn with our recently released Tamiko Pant pattern (as worn by Silva, above).
The Athina Top is now available in Australian sizes XS-XL. She’s available as a free PDF (print-at-home/print copy shop version) or, if you prefer, you can purchase the hard copy (for a limited time) online and in-store for $12.
I would like to order the Athina top pattern. I wear a women’s size 2 in American measurements, as I prefer a slightly loose but not a baggy fit, especially in a style like this one. How does your size XL compare?
Thank you,
Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth. You can see the finished measurements on the product page and view the Australian size chart here as well – https://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/digital-sewing-pattern-downloads/products/athina-top-pattern
We provide a metric to imperial calculator on the right hand side of this page
Thank you very much Colette and Lisa for this new pattern. It corresponds to exactly what I love sewing and wearing. Thank you also for being so generous and giving us the opportunity to have it for free.
@ Elizabeth: the size chart (Bust, Hip, Waist and length measurements) is available on the online shop: https://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/new-additions/products/athina-top-pattern.
Best
Thanks for the lovely Athina Top pattern, particulary for making it a free pattern. However, when am I ever going to get to do all the other pre-christmas stuff I have to do, if these very tempting ideas keep coming from the Tessuti Blog? : )
Thank you for your generosity, I look forward to sewing up this pattern.
Thanks for your generosity 🙂
Thank you for the top pattern, which is on my to do list…… The Tamiko pants have made up beautifully. Have made two pairs so far. I think your models both look gorgeous in theirs! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Cheers
Thankyou for an easy Christmas dress/Cassie coverup. Another to add to my Tessuti pattern box ? which are my go to patterns. Merry Christmas to you all, wishing you Peace, Joy & wonderful fabric
Thank you so much for this pattern. I’ve made a version 15 cm longer than the pattern, but still not as long as the pictured tunic version. Did you flare it out a bit to make the tunic?
This is a great easy to make pattern. I found the sleeves a bit too long so just turned them up into a cuff but next time I would cut them about 4” shorter. It is best suited to a lighter linen as it’s quite a big floppy fit. Love it! Thanks so much for making the pattern a freeby!
Can’t wait to make this! How many A0 sheets is this pattern if I have it printed at the copy shop?
I’m really struggling with how to make the neck binding … is there a tutorial or video anywhere that I could use? Thanks, Paula
Hi Paula. Hope this helps…

Hello
I am making the Athina now and I am attaching the sleeves to the front and back. The top edge of sleeve is a lot wider than the shoulder/sleeve extension (presumably because of the shoulder seam?) do I just match the centre of the sleeve with the shoulder seam then trim any excess at the sleeve edges?
Thanks
No trimming of sleeve edges required, as you can see in instructions steps and photos in Step 3.
