Pattern Review – New Look 6853

In Melbourne today, the weather forecast went a little something like this…Partly cloudy. Scattered showers. The chance of thunderstorms with hail during this afternoon. Brrrrr, says I.

Hopefully, this pattern review will go some way towards warming those of us in the midst of a southern winter. Janet’s back with this furry little number – New Look’s 6853, View C – made up in our Charcoal Mix.

Janet sewed up the vest in a size 10 (the smallest size available) but says “a size 8 would’ve been perfect if I wanted it to sit like the image on the pattern cover.” As it turned out, she had to lap the front and added snap fasteners to close it. She also made the belt from view D and folded out the neck edges to create a lapel. This has the added benefit of showing off the vest lining – Black Lucrecia, our enormously popular Italian wool/polyamide double knit (sold out – in black – in our online store but limited stocks are now available in Melbourne, Bondi and Wynyard stores. It’s also available in cream).

Janet describes her vest as ‘comfy and warm’. I’d think I’d also like to add ‘clever, stylish and very cool (in the warmest possible way)’.
