Beyond Biba
October 1, 2009
There’s yet another fashion documentary, this time about trendsetter Barbara Hulanicki, the woman behind Biba an iconic fashion store in London. Her stores changed the face of UK fashion in the 60s and 70s. Fingers crossed it gets screened here.

Anyone of you tried co-ordinating green lipstick?
I remember Biba, it was in London when i lived there in the early seventies. They made up dresses
in the same design in several different quality fabrics, the prices varied depending on the quality of fabric used. I bought several Biba dresses there but the best dress/jacket i bought was from Ossie Clark in Knightsbridge. I was thinking about that dress/jacket today, I remember Jenny kee had one too, i have them to Vinnies just last year, in perfect condition – wish i'd kept them, now i'm a sewer I could have copied the pattern. Loved this little film! I did my makeup artistry course at Biba Starmaker Acadamy in Brisbane, Australia. Both the Brisbane & Gold Coast Acadamies have closed now. But the whole ethos of the Biba style seemed to be behind it. I had an excellent makeup tutor who was amazingly adventurous in makeup and fashion, and really encouraged uniqueness! God I miss those days.
