Tres Fabu

I went to visit Jenny at Tres Fabu yesterday to have a little look out the back of her divine shop at Northbridge. At the rear of her store is a room filled with remnants of fabric, jars and boxes of old buttons and vintage patterns and magazines. Some of the patterns dating back to the 1930’s.
I had in mind to make up a new coat for this winter in a new emerald green flannel wool we have coming this month at Tessuti.
And look at the wonderful vintage Simplicity 7307 pattern I found. I will just have to grade it down one size and try it out in a calico first to check the fit ( back in 1967 a 36 inch bust – was considered a size 16!!!!). I love the style and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I think I will try out the single breasted version and if it turns out as well as I hope – I will also try out the double breasted version – perhaps in a checked or tweed wool.

Thank you for mentioning this shop. Sounds wonderful, I’ll definitely check it out next time I’m in the area.
Those buttons look delicious!
What great timing. I want to come down to your store to get something for a winter coat. Wow you have emerald green wool?? Awesome.
I look forward to your tips. I’ve never made a coat before,so any advice given would be most appreciated.
Yes Jeannie we have most of our coatings in early. The flannel will come in emerald, turquoise and cobalt. If you like a lovely green coat ask to see our Bottle Green Cashmere Wool as well…it’s yummy.I know Surry Hills has it , but you could call around and see who else has it.
My mother was a dressmaker and I have recently discovered all her old patterns, including a similar coat pattern (from which I was made a cerise pink coat many year’s ago)and am now also keen to make an emerald green coat. I am a country cousin and thus look forward to your e-mails when the fabrics have arrived in store.
Regards
Gale.
Colette , when will the flannel arrive?? I will be going to Surry Hills store.
I know I’m going to have trouble deciding what to get…Flannel, boiled wool, cashmere wool…waaa way to hard.
Jeannie…you will have a hard time deciding because I also forgot to mention that there will also be a Wool/Cashmere in Pea Green colour!!!! I will try and post a pic of the swatches . They will be arriving in store after the 17th March. The boiled wool however is in store now and all but Bondi stores have them.
That shop looks delicious! I’ll definitely be popping by next time we’re shopping at Tokyo Mart.
The wools look beautiful, too. I’ll be checking them out, too when I’m next in your shop.
