Sew Tessuti’s birthday giveaway
Today is Sew Tessuti’s 1st birthday! Starting this blog has been such an amazing experience and the cherry on top – without a doubt – is every comment and email and introduction from a customer, reader and blogger out there, everywhere. And so to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I’d love to giveaway these Tessuti fabrics to one lucky reader:
2mts X Colored Rice– 100% cotton ideal for skirts or dresses.
1 mt x Entertaining Elephants – this 100% cotton print is just too cute for words.
2mts x Coloured Sugar – this is a silk/cotton blend fabric with a satin finish.I’ve seen this made up in tops, skirts and maxi dresses. I just love this retro print.
If you’d like to be in the running, all you need to do is leave a comment about a favourite past post or what you would like future posts to be about. Competition closes Monday 1st Dec at 10 pm (AEST time).
All entries will be numbered from order of comments and I will use the random integer generator to choose the winner, announced on Tuesday Dec 2nd. International entries are welcome too!
Thanks again to all our readers. Get commenting and good luck!

I really enjoyed a post in October that featured Japanese sewing books. I love the funky styling of Japanese clothes and hope to make my own one day!
I don’t have a favourite post but do enjoy seeing what customers are making. Also the awards posts were good. As there are many blogs from the sewers point of view I would like to see you post more about the retailers point of view – but definately keep showing us what the customers make too:)
I too like seeing what customers have made. I know that that’s something hard for you to control and provide regularly, but I do enjoy it when it happens!
Oh, also I love the little behind-the-scenes bits. Like where you showed off commercial cutters (I think?) with some rose burnout velvet. Bits and pieces of your buying trips (if it’s not too trade-secret-y) would be great to see.
That cotton silk blend is to DIE for. Just gorgeous!
I loved all the fashion show posts!
I love the “insider” posts about buying trips and also the posts about the garment district in Surrey Hills – the fusing place is definitely on my list of places to visit during an interstate holiday.
I enjoy seeing what people have made with Tessuti fabrics. Reading the posts has made me excited about the possibilities for my own wardrobe!
Well, I enjoy all your posts, especially when you introduce us to places and people in the trade. The pattern cutter, the button shop, the guy who bonds interfacing.
Most of all, I enjoy your enthusiasm.
The elephant fabric is making me drool!
I love to hear the going-ons in the shop including the new arrivals of your gorgeous fabrics! But i have to day…most of all, I love to see your customers’ projects!
Just ONE post? are you kidding :-)!! I love seeing what customers have made; I covet EVERYTHING in Georgia’s wardrobe; and the posts on the Tessuti awards were just FAB!
I’d love more “featured fabric” post, too – the more pics, the better!
My favourite posts are the pattern reviews-its always great to see how a pattern works in the flesh!!
I just love seeing all the entries into your design competitions, the creativity and skill is amazing & something I aspire to!
Jennifer
Congrats on your first anniversary.
My favourite posts were about the awards. Also, the photos of customers’ creations are great inspiration.
I would love to be in the running to win the beautiful fabrics. I love your website and particularly like the various patterns you review. I would really like to see more for the over 50’s – thats me obviously
oooo happy birthday!
love reading your blog and my fave posts are the ones about the sew tessuti awards so much talent being show cased, brillant!
those fabrics are stunning so good luck to all who enter 🙂

I love all the posts which show items that customers have made from your fabrics including your last post with the Rosette dress. Love to see/ read about other peoples success’s with your lovely fabrics!
I love seeing how “real life ” people/customers have used Tessuti fabric and what they have created out of it. Future posts on individual customers projects (from a variety of figure types) would be greatly appreciated. Also it is great to see younger sewers being showcased.
Keep up the fantastic blog and drool-worthy fabric!
Kate 🙂
I find pattern reviews really useful – and it helps so much with inspiration on what you can really do with a pattern – flicking through daggy catalogue pictures to pick a pattern is sometimes a tad painful 😉
Oh my fav post would have to be Vogue 8420 by Emma. I loved seeing the fabric she used to make the dresses and it looked fabulous on her. It definately made me want to sew!! I love pattern reviews by sewers and tips. Happy 1st BLOG Birthday – Colette!!! Keep ’em coming.
I love the posts featuring customer’s creations with Tessuti fabrics! And I’m looking forward to more maternity wear by Emma 🙂 That elephant print is the cutest!!!
I really loved seeing the pics from the ‘Little Black Dresses on the runway’ post. It really shows that its so easy to personalise common concepts. Just like I think its interesting when a lots of people make the same pattern and turn out completely different / personalised items of clothing. Reminds me why I took up sewing. Coloured Rice fabric is devine BTW.
Hi
I would like to say a big thank you as it was your site that I first happened upon a couple of months ago and being a sewer from way back found it compelling reading. From there I then discovered the sewing links on the side of your site. I have spent many happy hours since reading about everyones adventures with sewing. Straightaway I added Tessuti to my Favourites so I can quickly check it out every couple of days.

Hi … I have several blogs which I check everyday – Tessuti is one of my favourities. Since I’m a Sydney local, I also enjoy spending my fabric money at most of your stores. You keep up my enthusiasm for sewing … thank you.
I really enjoy the family feel of the posts as well as great ideas for enterprising use of patterns such as Emma’s blouse-to-dress. I’ve just been doing a dressmaking class and showing off my fabric finds – we all agree Tessuti fabrics are the best!
Congratulations on your first blogiversary. My favourite posts are what your customers have sewn plus I liked the videos of the awards night.
Like most of the comments, I find it hard to choose only one favourite post! But, I have to admit to loving the posts showing customers garments in particular. Keep it up and congratulations on the birthday celebration.
I can’t say that I have a single favorite past post. What I love is seeing your customers’ creations, I never cease to be amazed at their beautiful creations!
Happy birthday to the blog 🙂
For me, seeing the contestants in your various sewing competitions has been a tremendous inspiration. I’m sort of in this fabric and fashion ‘backwater’, so seeing this delightful and skillful work has been a great motivator for me. I do agree with Vicki though that seeing posts from you about the retailer’s point of view – how you go about choosing what you stock; what influences you, the role that your customers’ skills levels play and so on, that would be tremendously interesting I think.
Happy Birthday Tessuti – I enjoyed the post about Georgia’s black waistcoat – she looked stunning!
I like seeing what customers are sewing with Tessuti’s fabrics. I especially enjoy seeing Georgia’s creations!
I love seeing the new fabric, and I definitely love seeing what people have made from your fabrics. I’d love to see more about sewing techniques with different fabrics, as well as to learn about the properties of different fabrics.
I enjoy stopping by to see the beautiful fabrics you have and the garments your customers have created with them. No particular favourite post as your whole blog is filled with your enthusiasm for sewing beautiful garments.I wish you continued success for your business.
hi love the pattern review. makes life easier. thank you ann
congrats on your first! you make me wish I lived in Sydney!
love to see what your customers are making out of your fabrics also the great service you give your customers in store
Happy Birthday. Tessuti’s blog was the first sewing blog I came across when I recently started sewing again. I love the creative side of sewing and the blog posts, especially seeing other people’s inspirations with the gorgeous fabrics you have available. I visit the Tessuti website (blog and online store) regularly and the fabric shops whenever I am in the city or at Chatswood. Thanks.
I love the pattern reviews (sometimes it’s so hard to visualise beyond the dorky pattern manufacturers illos!), the warmth and enthusiasm with which you write, and the mix of personal and professional. It’s very well balanced – and has me whipping the cover off my sewing machine in a burst of creative energy!
I love seeing what people have made – which makes most of your posts my favourites! It’s inspired me to start sewing again. Geraldine P.
I love the pattern reviews. Going forward, can you suggest other suitable fabrics from the Tessuti range for the pattern made?
I really enjoyed the posts for the 2008 Tessuti awards. Thanks
I love the pattern reviews. It’s great seeing what other people do, particularly when you have been thinking about making yourself. I really liked the pattern review 8420, back in May 19 of this year. Not only great to see it finished but also those who have personalised it and really make it their own. Love it. Erica
I like the posts showing what customers have made and the corresponding pattern used. Its great to see the pattern photo/diagram come to life – it always looks better made up in ‘real life’.

Hi there
I’ve just searched for fabric and found this. I live in Mount Isa and haven’t done any fabric shopping for a couple of years. There is no trawling fabric shops to add to the stash.
Congratulations on your first birthday and I hope I win the prize!
I loved Lauren’s dress, and the fact that she is a young lady and busily sewing – good to see nowadays. I’m very inspired with each of my ‘visits’ to the site, and have even managed to visit Tessuti, adding to my collection of fabrics, one of which I am finishing off now. Keep up the inspirations!!
This is a great blog, I think there are too many posts to choose from, but perhaps one topic for a future post would be Men’s fabrics, suiting, shirting etc and patterns. I wanted to make some really nice shirts for my husband this Christmas, perhaps in silk shirting or linen, but there just isn’t a lot of variety out there. Also, they have some fantastic women’s patterns that are really modern and up to date, but the men’s are far from it.
I especially enjoy the posts showing the beautiful fabric you have – as I live in Sydney it has prompted me several times to visit your stores and add to my “stash”. I also love seeing other people’s creations – very inspiring!
I love the fabrics you have for your giveaway – I was already planning to add to my stash again with that silk/cotton – I just love it!
I love how you highlight the success of your customers in making their own garments with your fabrics. I also love being introduced to the professionals like the pattern cutter and the buttonhole maker.
Happy 1st blog birthday!
Congrats on being one year old!
I love reading what other sewists have made; especially seeing design modifications to make an original and unique garment. I also like reading about the “behind the seams” articles and the people in the industry.
I couldn’t possibly choose a favorite post! 😉 I love the posts about fabrics and how to care for them, as well as the customer project posts.
Happy birthday Tessuti! Keep on informing and inspiring us!
