Sew Tessuti’s birthday giveaway
Today is Sew Tessuti’s 1st birthday! Starting this blog has been such an amazing experience and the cherry on top – without a doubt – is every comment and email and introduction from a customer, reader and blogger out there, everywhere. And so to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I’d love to giveaway these Tessuti fabrics to one lucky reader:
2mts X Colored Rice– 100% cotton ideal for skirts or dresses.
1 mt x Entertaining Elephants – this 100% cotton print is just too cute for words.
2mts x Coloured Sugar – this is a silk/cotton blend fabric with a satin finish.I’ve seen this made up in tops, skirts and maxi dresses. I just love this retro print.
If you’d like to be in the running, all you need to do is leave a comment about a favourite past post or what you would like future posts to be about. Competition closes Monday 1st Dec at 10 pm (AEST time).

I really enjoyed a post in October that featured Japanese sewing books. I love the funky styling of Japanese clothes and hope to make my own one day!
I don’t have a favourite post but do enjoy seeing what customers are making. Also the awards posts were good. As there are many blogs from the sewers point of view I would like to see you post more about the retailers point of view – but definately keep showing us what the customers make too:)
I too like seeing what customers have made. I know that that’s something hard for you to control and provide regularly, but I do enjoy it when it happens!
Oh, also I love the little behind-the-scenes bits. Like where you showed off commercial cutters (I think?) with some rose burnout velvet. Bits and pieces of your buying trips (if it’s not too trade-secret-y) would be great to see.
That cotton silk blend is to DIE for. Just gorgeous!

I love the “insider” posts about buying trips and also the posts about the garment district in Surrey Hills – the fusing place is definitely on my list of places to visit during an interstate holiday.

I love all the posts which show items that customers have made from your fabrics including your last post with the Rosette dress. Love to see/ read about other peoples success’s with your lovely fabrics!
I love seeing how “real life ” people/customers have used Tessuti fabric and what they have created out of it. Future posts on individual customers projects (from a variety of figure types) would be greatly appreciated. Also it is great to see younger sewers being showcased.

I find pattern reviews really useful – and it helps so much with inspiration on what you can really do with a pattern – flicking through daggy catalogue pictures to pick a pattern is sometimes a tad painful 😉
Oh my fav post would have to be Vogue 8420 by Emma. I loved seeing the fabric she used to make the dresses and it looked fabulous on her. It definately made me want to sew!! I love pattern reviews by sewers and tips. Happy 1st BLOG Birthday – Colette!!! Keep ’em coming.

I really loved seeing the pics from the ‘Little Black Dresses on the runway’ post. It really shows that its so easy to personalise common concepts. Just like I think its interesting when a lots of people make the same pattern and turn out completely different / personalised items of clothing. Reminds me why I took up sewing. Coloured Rice fabric is devine BTW.

Hi … I have several blogs which I check everyday – Tessuti is one of my favourities. Since I’m a Sydney local, I also enjoy spending my fabric money at most of your stores. You keep up my enthusiasm for sewing … thank you.
I really enjoy the family feel of the posts as well as great ideas for enterprising use of patterns such as Emma’s blouse-to-dress. I’ve just been doing a dressmaking class and showing off my fabric finds – we all agree Tessuti fabrics are the best!

Like most of the comments, I find it hard to choose only one favourite post! But, I have to admit to loving the posts showing customers garments in particular. Keep it up and congratulations on the birthday celebration.

For me, seeing the contestants in your various sewing competitions has been a tremendous inspiration. I’m sort of in this fabric and fashion ‘backwater’, so seeing this delightful and skillful work has been a great motivator for me. I do agree with Vicki though that seeing posts from you about the retailer’s point of view – how you go about choosing what you stock; what influences you, the role that your customers’ skills levels play and so on, that would be tremendously interesting I think.

I love the creative side of sewing and the blog posts, especially seeing other people’s inspirations with the gorgeous fabrics you have available. I love the pattern reviews (sometimes it’s so hard to visualise beyond the dorky pattern manufacturers illos!), the warmth and enthusiasm with which you write, and the mix of personal and professional. It’s very well balanced – and has me whipping the cover off my sewing machine in a burst of creative energy!

I love the pattern reviews. It’s great seeing what other people do, particularly when you have been thinking about making yourself. I really liked the pattern review 8420, back in May 19 of this year. Not only great to see it finished but also those who have personalised it and really make it their own. Love it. Erica

I’ve just searched for fabric and found this. I live in Mount Isa and haven’t done any fabric shopping for a couple of years. There is no trawling fabric shops to add to the stash.

I loved Lauren’s dress, and the fact that she is a young lady and busily sewing – good to see nowadays. I’m very inspired with each of my ‘visits’ to the site, and have even managed to visit Tessuti, adding to my collection of fabrics, one of which I am finishing off now. Keep up the inspirations!!
This is a great blog, I think there are too many posts to choose from, but perhaps one topic for a future post would be Men’s fabrics, suiting, shirting etc and patterns. I wanted to make some really nice shirts for my husband this Christmas, perhaps in silk shirting or linen, but there just isn’t a lot of variety out there. Also, they have some fantastic women’s patterns that are really modern and up to date, but the men’s are far from it.
I especially enjoy the posts showing the beautiful fabric you have – as I live in Sydney it has prompted me several times to visit your stores and add to my “stash”. I also love seeing other people’s creations – very inspiring!
