Pattern Review – Simplicity 3786
Georgia’s done it again! Here’s yet another great shirt, this time made up in Tessuti’s beautiful 100% Cotton ‘White Hail Spot’ – in View D from Simplicity pattern 3786 . Georgia’s only adjustment to this top/shirt pattern was to shorten the length by approx 8cm and omitting the centre back shirring and instead took in the side seams for more shaping almost down a full size.
What a difference it makes seeing this pattern made up….I wouldn’t have looked at this pattern twice ,had I not seen Georgia’s gorgeous version. I think it’s probably due to the fact that I couldn’t see past views A, B and C – I’m no fan of a mock wrap top! The best thing about Simplicity pattern 3786 has to be the 3 different versions of this sweet pin-tucked front blouse.

What a lovely blouse!!! The fabric, of course, makes all the difference!
Wow that’s beautiful, I want to give it a try!
Beautiful blouse! The fabric really does make a difference. This is one I would have passed on. But with Georgia’s choice in fabric, it has a “wow” factor.
I agree, the fabric is just divine and it makes the shirt. One more reason we should all buy fabulous fabric for our projects!
Georgia certainly has the knack for choosing patterns and fabric…or does she just look great in everything?
Wow! I actually have this pattern in my stash because of the pin tuck versions, but seeing this has moved it from a “maybe” to a “definite” on my to-sew list!
I love the fabric too. And agree that I wouldn’t have thought twice about the pattern. Georgia did a great job…again!
WOw, it is gorgeous! I am another person who is not so good at seeing beyond the pattern illustration- I need to see something made-up in fabric. Now I REALLY WANT to make this myself!
It looks amazing. I really love how the white just gives it a classic look!
What a beautifully made top. And I agree, the finished version really exceeds what is expected by just looking at the pattern cover. I’ll have to have a closer look at a pattern’s potential from now on!
