The Jane Dress pattern, a 2016 favourite
Today we’re revisiting our Jane Dress in a short, sweet blog post. Originally published in 2016, we’re still madly in love with this simple and timeless A-line design that features a small neckline split, short sleeves and a single side pocket. A godet panel is included on one side, creating a subtle asymmetrical hemline.
Silva recently made one up in Bedford Alloy, the ideal weight for this style (other colours here) and gifted it to her cousin Daniela for the perfect summer holiday dress.
Recommended fabrics for the Jane Dress include light to medium weight linen, linen/cotton, linen/viscose, medium weight drapey silk and lightweight wool crepe. The pattern comes in (Australian) sizes XXS-XL and is available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions.
I too love this pattern and have made three versions so far.
The first one I colour blocked with two linen fabrics. The godet, right sleeve and pocket bags are all apricot. The remaining dress is pink. I bound the neckline in apricot as well, instead of a facing.
The second is pale aqua from a slub cotton with floral print facing and pocket bags, as a hidden surprise element.
My latest is in a Christmas furnishing cotton in pale pink with grey koalas wearing Christmas hats. There are red and white candy canes as well. I love it and have received many complementary comments.
The apricot and pink one sounds lovely Cheryl. Can I please see a photo.
