Silva Sews a Stripe Linen Set

Here in Australia, spring has officially sprung and that means arms open wide for linen, linen and more linen! The arrival of our latest Italian designer stripes had Silva’s name written all over them, so she went to work (but really play) and sewed up a few pieces for some effortless, breezy outfits.

Using Baia String/Black Linen, Silva made this classic two piece set, cutting each pattern with opposing stripe direction. The pants are our Robbie Pants and the top is taken from the Tosca Tunic. In making two pieces, she created some fabulous options for mixing and matching with new and existing wardrobe pieces.

For a different (but no less effortless) look, she sewed up a similar top in Bronte Ivory Linen Crinkle Gauze and loves pairing it (below) with the Robbie Pants. This lovely, light crinkle linen also comes in a Quartz colourway.

And because Silva fell in love with both colourways, she chose the Baia Navy/Toffee linen to make this fourth and final piece.

The sewing pattern chosen this time was the Athina Top, a (free in PDF) pattern released in 2017. This eternally timeless style works beautifully with this fabric and for this version, Silva lowered the armhole and shortened the sleeve so she could turn it back for a relaxed, cuffed effect.

By Silva’s account, these fabrics are light, lovely and “feel like you’re wearing nothing”, making them perfect for high, humid summer. Shop all our linen fabrics in-store and online.
