Fabric Feature and Pattern of the Week – Raining Petals and Vogue 1027
November 20, 2009
A week ago the girls from the Tessuti Melbourne store uploaded some photos into our Flickr group. Have you seen this? How gorgeous is Rachel’s dress made up in cotton jersey knit Raining Petals and dress pattern Vogue 1027?
This 100% cotton knit has only a slight one-way stretch and still worked wonderfully in this style, despite the requested †† Two-way Stretch Knits on the pattern. The fabric suggestions help but wouldn’t it be the most ideal fabric store to have every single bolt of fabric sitting alongside a suitable (and up-to-date) garment made from it???

Rachel and her dress look fabulous.

Love this!
a great result – shows that sometimes we just have to break the rules!
Gorgeous! That is such a pretty print. I would think actually for a wrap dress, a one-way stretch would in some ways be better than the 2-way suggested on the envelope. You really just want the lateral stretch to hug curves, and then the fact that it doesn't stretch up-and-down is good because at the bust, you kind of want things firmer. Also over time, a 2-way stretch would stretch out longer due to gravity, from the shoulders, and maybe get droopy. So, I'm thinking in this case you've bettered the brains at Vogue for fabric choice!
