2012 Tessuti Melbourne Christmas Dinner @ Maha Restaurant
November 18, 2012
On the weekend I dined out with our fabulous Tessuti Melbourne crew at Maha Restaurant in Melbourne’s CBD for our annual Christmas dinner. A top suggestion for this year’s venue, thank you Trish and Suzie!

It’s been a really busy time of year, so for my party dress I had to go for a favourite tried and true dress pattern Vintage Butterick 4873 to make up this lovely chocolate brown/cream printed silk crepe de chine “Batik Tock’ (sold out). I’m thrilled with the dress as I had to eliminate the centre front and back seam as not to distort the print.
What a fabulous night it was! I have to add that I feel truly blessed to work alongside these wonderful and inspiring women. Thank you ladies x
PS. Lisa’s party dress post to come.
I love love love this Colette! I really have to make this pattern…
…haha yes you do 😉
thanks Rachel
Colette, did you just cut the pieces directly on the fold to eliminate the CB and CF seams? Did this effect the drape of the fabric? Thanks!!
I'm sorry for the late reply! I retraced the pattern on the fold on spot and cross paper only (elimintaing the cf and cb) to have a new one piece pattern front and back, I couldn't cut the front and back on the fold cause these pieces are on the bias. You probably can cut it on the straight but I think it falls nicest on the bias.
I also needed to add an insert of more fabric on one side of each the front and back to get the full length out of the 112cm wide silk when cutting it on the bias, but a 140cm wide fabric would be wide enough. You can tell where it is thanks to the print.
Can't wait to see yours finally.
I meant to say you can't tell…:)
Thanks Colette! I think I'll use the cutting mat with gridlines to help me line it all up. I'll be making it after Christmas now….. am making a Lonsdale dress for Christmas day – that will take up all my sewing time!
