My Berlin Jacket

I didn’t get around to making a Berlin Jacket when we released the pattern last winter so of course it carried over to this years winter sewing list. We have a Berlin sample in our Melbourne store and it’s been a regular grab when I’ve felt chilly on the shop floor (job perks). I had planned on making myself a basic black but in the process of seeking some inspiration for Instagram, I ended up inspiring myself right into this fabric – Cattus Grey.

With its raw and overlapped seams, this pattern was a speedy Sunday afternoon sew. To add a bit of detail, I used faux leather piping (available Melb and Surry Hills only) along the front opening.

I also wanted a slightly shorter sleeve length so I shortened them by about an inch. The cuffs are turned back so there’s always the option to turn them out if I need or want the sleeve to sit longer.

In one week of wear, my Berlin has already proved itself a nice little wardrobe workhorse for those chilly autumn mornings.
Unfortunately, this fabric has now sold out but we still have quite a few colours left in our boiled wool Tepore range and they’re all completely perfect for Berlin.

What a delightful jacket! the fabric is so fun, love the seam treatments and faux leather.
Pattern just arrived
Will make from pointe
And also wool felt.
I love Tessuti patterns and have purchased and sewn many of them (I’ve made 6 Jac Shirts!! Fabulous pattern). I would really like to find a pattern for a cardi-jacket similar to the cut of the Silva shirt-jacket, but with a higher neck line, long sleeves, finished edges, and pockets, which could be sewn from a knit or a medium woven fabric. Would you consider designing such a modified Silva? The Berlin is lovely but I need something lighter and with buttons. I would be so delighted to buy such a pattern and it would fill a hole in my wardrobe.
Thanks for wonderful patterns!
