Introducing the Myka Top
With our love of basics now peaking at a WHOLE new level, we’re thrilled to introduce you to your latest pattern, the Myka Top! Myka is an oversized knit top with a high, round neckline with a self-fabric neck band. It features a deep hem, loose elbow-length raglan sleeves with shoulder darts and wide sleeve bands. A twin needle stitching detail is used to finish the sleeve bands, hem and neckline.
Part top, part tee and part sweatshirt, Myka is a true casual staple and has been inspired by the big sleeve, boxy trend that we’re very much enjoying right now.
We’ve designed this top as one of those easy wardrobe pieces that you’ll reach for over and over again. The simple and relaxed silhouette pairs perfectly with jeans, skirts, sweatpants and shorts. In all these photos I’m wearing it with my Chiara Pants (with variously altered cuffs that I’ve been playing around with), made up in our Natural Washed Organic Denim.
Love a coordinating set? Try wearing Myka with our favourite Avalon Pants. It also pairs perfectly with our Robbie Pants. And when the temperature drops, Myka makes an excellent layering piece over a long sleeve top like our Mandy Boat Tee (below) or Monroe Turtleneck patterns.
During the Myka testing phase, Colette tried a super simple modification, lengthening the top and adding a gathered linen skirt to create a dress. She loved the result (and has worn the resulting sample) SO much we decided to include this bonus tutorial in the instructions.
Myka Dress in French Tag Navy (top) and Dark Navy Bedford Washed Linen (skirt)
Suitable fabrics for the Myka Top are sturdy cotton knits such as our French Tag or Ani stripe loopback fleeces as well as lightweight ponti knits. The Myka Top comes in four (Australian) sizes – 0 (6), 1 (8-10), 2 (12-14), 3 (16-18), 4 (20-22) – and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions. We can’t wait to see your versions and if you’re sharing them with us on Instagram, don’t forget to use the #MykaTop #TessutiPatterns hashtags.
Hi. Could this be made up in linen? I live in Brisbane so a fleece or jersey gets a bit warm.
I’m thrilled with this pattern with the longer sleeves it’s a winter version of my summer staple which I buy from a boutique at great cost! I’d rather give you my custom and end up with a personalised wardrobe.
Thanks for your great service by the way it’s such a treat to get a package tied up with ribbon and the ribbon gets re used in myriad ways …. I used some to hang my decorations on our Christmas tree!!
Cheers
Lindsey Back
It absolutely could, with some modifications. Stay tuned for a blog tutorial soon
What pattern did you use to make the cuffed pants shown in your 7th and 8th images (going down from the top)? They do not look quite like any Tessuti pattern.
It’s actually the same pair of Chiara Pants that I’m wearing in all of these photos. I just recently added a wide elastic into the cuff.
Is the model wearing a size 2 or 1?
Hi Helen. I’m wearing a 1
I have a very stretchy, drapey elastane knit fabric I’d like to use for this top. It’s not “firm” but what if I interfaced the sleeves, hem, and neckband? Would that still give the cool boxy shape?
Hi Jenn. If you like the “boxy-ness” of this style, we’d definitely suggest sticking with a firmer type of knit.
