Our Kate Top Pattern: Updated & Expanded

We’re slowly working on expanding the sizing on a selection of our existing Tessuti patterns and here’s the latest one – the Kate Top. Originally released eight years ago, this sewing pattern continues to deliver everything we want in a woven tank.

The pattern includes two options. View A (above) is pull-on with a scoop neck. View B (below) has a higher neckline with a keyhole back. Both styles feature exposed binding on the armholes and neckline.

Basic it may be but the Kate Top offers up all the qualities we love in a piece of clothing. It’s effortless, convenient and completely timeless. The picture below was included in our original 2015 Kate Top blog post and shows Margot wearing it with our Robbie Pants pattern. Eight years later and it still looks so good!

In all these other photos, Anna is modelling the Kate Top with our newly released Jensen Pants pattern and what a fine pattern pairing they make. We’ve used a contrasting 633 Gütermann Sew-All thread to highlight the split hem detail.

The pictures below show the differing back views.

View A (scoop neck) is made up in our Bedford Black Washed Linen and View B (high neck) in our Bedford String Washed Linen – view our full and colourful Bedford linen fabric range online.

And does it look good in a print? You bet. Kate loooooves Liberty tana lawn and any fabulous bold print as these two photos from 2015 blog posts below show (both fabrics long sold out).

Worn on its own or layered under jackets and cardigans, this style of top works perfectly with pants, jeans, shorts and skirts. Recommended fabrics for the Kate Top include include light to medium weight linens or linen blends, cottons, Liberty tana lawns, viscose and silks.

The pattern nows come in (Australian) size ranges 6-16 and 16-22 and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions. UK/EU customers can purchase patterns or pack from our Tessuti Pattern UK website.
