Introducing the Mahlia Skirt Pattern
Continuing on with our current love of easy basics, today we’re introducing you to our latest pattern – the Mahlia Skirt.
Midi length with an A-line silhouette, Mahlia is designed for knits with body and good recovery. Fitted through the waist and hips, it features a curved back hem that is mid-calf at the front and slightly longer at the back. The narrow hem and wide elastic waistband are both finished with twin-needle stitching.
This pattern is all about simplicity with the perfect amount of flute and flare giving both movement and shape. We love it in a weighty ponti knit for the cooler months, or try a lighter weight viscose/spandex for when it’s warmer.
Mahlia is well and truly inspired by current trends that lean towards simplicity. Style this skirt with everything from tees to tops to coats to sweaters to turtlenecks to sneakers to boots for a look that is both stylish, effortless and – most importantly – comfortable. You can even try pairing it with a matching top for a complete co-ordinating look.
Comprising just three pattern pieces – front, back and waistband – did we also mention that Mahlia is a fantastically quick and straightforward sew? So if you’re looking for an easy style that’s destined to become a wardrobe staple, this could be it.
Suitable fabrics for the Mahlia Skirt are ponti knits such as the Snap Charcoal Ponti Colette is wearing here (other colours also available). For a lighter weight option, try our Nametag viscose/spandex jersey and for a super lush option stretch velvet works as well.
The pattern comes in (Australian) sizes 6-22 and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions.
We can’t wait to see your versions and if you’re sharing them with us on Instagram, don’t forget to use the #TessutiPatterns #MahliaSkirt hashtags!
I love the combination of the Mahlia skirt and top. Which pattern is the top in your blog?
