Meet the Avery Skirt Pattern

Meet our latest pattern – the Avery Skirt! Avery is a midi-length, four-gore panel skirt that skims the hips before flaring out towards a narrow hem. With a bias cut and scalloped edge elastic waist, this pull-on style is simple to sew and simple to style.

The standout feature of the Avery Skirt is the bias cut, accentuated by the centre front and back seams. This skirt is all about the drape, fluidity, comfort and movement.

The waistband is sewn simply and effectively with a 16mm scalloped edge elastic that makes the skirt an easy pull on/pull off piece.

Depending on your fabric choice, Avery can be dressed up or down making it suitable for everyday wear, work wear, holidays or more formal events. Go for an easy breezy linen in summer, a luxurious silk for a dressier event or wool crepe for a classic, multi-occasion piece.

Virginia is wearing it above with our Cora Top in Bedford Midnight Navy Washed Linen. Because the skirt is cut on the bias, it’s great to use up the excess fabric by adding a little extra meterage and cutting out a matching top for a fabulous two piece set. To illustrate what we mean, we’ve put together a meterage and pattern layout for a Cora Top and Avery Skirt pattern, laid out on 140cm wide fabric.

This pattern is definitely versatile and fits seamlessly into a variety of outfit options. It also works fabulously with our Romy, Rae, Kate, Mattea and Tavi top patterns. Colette’s wearing it with the Romy Top (below) but for the cooler months, pair Avery with a shirt, knit or blazer.

Colette’s wearing it below with the Mattea Top in Linford Black Washed Linen.

Suitable fabrics for the Avery Skirt are medium to heavy weight silk satin, satin backed crepe, viscose, linen and lightweight wool such as wool crepe.

The pattern comes in (Australian) size ranges 6-22 and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions. UK/EU customers can purchase the hardcopy pattern from our Tessuti Pattern UK website, as well as the required scalloped elastic.

We can’t wait to see your versions and if you’re sharing with us on Instagram, don’t forget to use the #AverySkirt #SewTessuti #TessutiPatterns hashtags.
