Introducing our new Aida Dress Pattern
Meet our first new pattern of 2025 – the Aida Dress. An absolute labour of love, this pattern has been almost two years in the making with numerous tweaking, much drafting and many, many samples sewn. The end design is something we’re super proud of and very excited to share with you!
Sculptural in design, this midi-length dress features color-blocked panels which make a statement that’s both stylish and dynamic. Slightly flared, sleeveless and semi-fitted with bust darts, it features a high and wide neckline for easy pull-on wear.
The unique panelling of the design allows for endless possibilities to mix and match colours, prints, plains and stripe directions. In these samples pictured here, we’ve paired our washed and yarn-dyed Newford linens in Gun Metal & Blu (above) and Fudge & Rhubarb (below).
Though simple in silhouette, the four separate panels provide an extra level of both interest and shape to the design. The neckline and armholes have a contrasting binding and the subtle asymmetrical hemline is finished with a neat, narrow hem.
The pattern provides meterage for both single or two tone versions (as pictured here), but if you’re feeling creative, you could also experiment with three different fabrics as well!
Recommended fabrics for the Aida Dress include fabrics with body and drape such as linen, linen/viscose, lightweight wool (like our Motiv wool crepe), silk satin and heavier viscose crepes. Our Harley cupro/linen/tencel blends are also perfect.
The pattern comes in (Australian) size ranges 6-16 and 16-22 and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions. UK/EU customers can purchase the hard copy pattern from our Tessuti Pattern UK website. We can’t wait to see your version and if you’re sharing with us on Instagram, don’t forget to use the #AidaDress #TessutiPatterns #TessutiAida and #SewTessuti hashtags.
Will it come with sleeves?
Hi Sue, no our Aida Dress won’t come with sleeves. We designed the dress to be sleeveless.
You can use your favourite sleeve pattern and adjust the armhole accordingly, if you would like to make it up with sleeves.
