Meet our new Sammy Pants Pattern

Second month of the year and now, our second new pattern of the year – look at us go! Like our previous Aida Dress release, this one was a bit of a stop start stop re-draft stop start sort of pattern. It happens sometimes, and when it finally comes to release day let us tell you the sigh of relief is ALMIGHTY. So, with that introduction (and accompanying relief) let us introduce you to the Sammy Pants!

Palazzo pants have loooooong been a staple in effortless, super chic dressing and our latest pattern takes this timeless silhouette on board with a relaxed, pull-on design. Stylish as they are comfortable, Sammy was designed specifically for drapey, woven fabrics that give beautiful movement and fluidity, making them a perfect choice for multiple occasions.

Design features include partially stitched-down inverted pleats that control volume from the waist to the hip. This design element adds a subtle, tailored feel while still maintaining the flowy, floaty essence of the palazzo style. All-important side pockets are finished with topstitched openings and an elasticated waistband brings ultimate comfort.

And because we love to introduce you to new sewing techniques, in this pattern we’ll teaching you a different and clever pocket method that attaches to the waistline.

These pants are versatile, easy to wear and perfect for elevating an everyday look. They can transition seamlessly from work to play, day to night, casual to dressy. And depending on your fabric/outfit choice, the pattern also works across every season as well. Colette and Virginia (below) are both wearing Sammy with our sleeveless Rae Top in Linford Black Linen but this style works with so many different top styles –  a fitted tee or tank, a blazer or a flowing blouse. We also know they look great with these Tessuti patterns – the Leni Top, Romy Top, Kate Top, Arkie Shirt  and Tavi Top.

Suitable fabrics for Sammy include linen, linen/viscose, silk, rayon, viscose and wool crepe. Colette’s spotty pair (above left) is made using two panels of Dots On Nero and Virgina’s floral (above right) is Luna Fiori Crepe. Both are 100% viscose.

Tiph (below) is wearing her Sammy Pants in our new Keiko Spot linen in the Chocolate colourway, paired with the Romy Top in Zumi Off White cotton poplin.

The pattern comes in (Australian) size ranges 6-22 and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions. We can’t wait to see your version and if you’re sharing with us on Instagram, don’t forget to use the #TessutiSammy #TessutiPatterns and #SewTessuti hashtags.
