Introducing the Lisbon Jacket

Meet our latest pattern – the Lisbon Jacket. Lisbon has been designed as our dream transitional piece and if we had to choose one word to describe it, ‘relaxed’ would be it.

Unlined and knee-length, Lisbon has a loose silhouette and features long sleeves that taper to a generous hem. Dropped shoulders and deep armholes allow for comfortable layering over one layer, several layers or a chunky knit. For the in-between seasons when days swing between cool and milder temperatures, Lisbon’s wide sleeves and deep cuffs allow you to roll your sleeves up, down or anywhere in between.

Pockets are a must-have for any relaxed jacket and Lisbon’s are single-welt, topstitched and good-looking. For a polished finish, the deep pocket bags are finished with 19mm bias binding. For some extra guidance, we’ve put together a video tutorial for this pattern which takes you through sewing Lisbon’s welt pocket and pocket binding.

The notched collar adds a touch of tailoring and the back is detailed with a stitched-down facing that prevents stretching, as well as providing extra support.

This pattern comes into its own during shifting seasons and fluctuating temperatures. It really is the perfect outer layer when you need something that is easy, lightweight, stylish, practical and comfortable. All those superlatives combined means it also makes for a winning travel piece as well.

Fabric choice is key for the Lisbon Jacket! We recommend medium weight linen or linen blends, wool blends, corduroy or wool crepe. To achieve that relaxed look, look for interesting fabrics that have both body and drape as these will bring out the full potential of the design. Virginia (above) is wearing Lisbon in our Italian Trento Lino 100% linen, over the Jensen Pants and Brigitte Top. My sample (below) is made up in Static Vision linen/wool/polyamide blend.

Tiph (below) is wearing Lisbon in Dashing Black, a stunning linen/cotton blend that’s also available in Indigo, Cherry and Chocolate.

Hilary is wearing her Lisbon Jacket (below) in the Dashing Indigo colourway. Other suitable fabrics in our current collection are Juno linen/cotton, Motiv wool crepe and Pebble Wash linens.

The Lisbon Jacket pattern includes five (Australian) size ranges – 0 (Size 6), 1 (Sizes 8-10), 2 (Sizes 12-14), 3 (Sizes 16-18), 4 (Sizes 20-22)  –  and is now available in both hardcopy and PDF copy shop/print-at-home versions.
