What NOT to do when cutting velvet
March 31, 2008
Today I wanted to do a post about how to cut and fuse a jacket. In this case, I was using a velveteen cotton that I have been saving for this winter. In my haste to cut the fabric and get it to the Garment Fusing Service before having to pick up my girls from school, I made a terrible faux-pas! I’m ashamed to admit it, even though I know that it happens to the best of sewers. I will post about it tomorrow as I’m still feeling quite raw about it. Oh, and just to rub salt in the wound is the fact that the fabric has sold out! AAAARRRGH!!
Can anyone guess what I did wrong?
Looks to me like one pieve is with the nap, another against it. Been there…
I meant “piece” of course. 😛
Hmmmmm, think you were having a nanna NAP when you traced out your pieces. Thanks for sharing. It’s a nice reminder that we all make mistakes from time to time.
I was going to say nap issues as well. Happens to the best of us.
Agreed, I think the mistake was tracing the patterns on opposite of naps 🙁 I hope you can find another beautiful fabric to recreate your piece
