It’s time to give(away) something back…
Sorry about yesterday’s no-post – I had a bit of trouble uploading the photos. So, as promised (and about time too, don’t you think!?), here’s a long-overdue giveaway. Well, five actually. All you have to do is leave a comment and let me know which of the following fabrics (or ribbon) you’d like and what you might make with it. And if you do score, we’d love to feature your creation in a future post. Let me stress that this is by no means a condition of entry, so please don’t let this put you off entering! We just love to see what you lovely folk do with our fabrics and notions. If you hadn’t got that already…
So, here are the available spoils and their meterage:

Wow, thanks :)) I think I would like the first fabric – the cotton elastane. I am not sure of the weight or the background colour (navy or black?). If heavy enough, I would make a jean type jacket to wear with a pink T and blue jeans.
How exciting! I like the Japanese cotton. I can see a really pretty smocked top for my daughter from this.
They are all gorgeous, but I have just started sewing with knit fabrics so I would love the Black Galaxy Spot to make into a simple top… and if there was enough left I would try out the BurdaStyle cheeky undies pattern 😉

Hi Colette, I’m always a sucker for grosgrain. I like the centre one (the navy I think) and I’d use it to trim some natural coloured linen to make a beach tote for summer. I love your new website by the way. I’ve never seen fabric photographed so beautifully or clearly. If I had a little more time for my own dressmaking I’d be sorely tempted. Thanks for the giveaway.

Hm I actually love the Autumn Strokes fabric, it is great graphical print and autumn is soon indeed. My first thought was a great wrap dress with a bias cut circular skirt. Something with a bit of kimono but western style.

I love the japanese cotton or the galaxy print. I just found a “go to blouse” pattern which I love! But…I have to say, after seeing Georgia’s jacket in the previous post…I am obsessed! I purchased the McCalls pattern from ebay. The rouge ribbon would be lovely! Now to find the velvet… thanks for your absolutely beautiful blog!cindy
It’d be a joy to get some gosgrain ribbon. I like the rouge one with orange and pinks. It would be perfect as an accent on a trolley cart liner like McCall’s M5409. I made a mockup yesterday and would love to make a couple for some sweet little girls I know.
I think I love that japanese cotton the best. I feel a little inspired by project runway and that fab Georgia !! to challenge my skills.(but definately with a beautiful fabric)
While I love the pattern on the georgette, I’m a bit of a sewing newbie, and scared of georgette.
So I would like to put a vote in for the silk crepe de chine. I would be torn between making a couple of blouses with it (puffy sleeves, bow tie at the neck for one, definitely); and making a dress for a friend’s wedding… I would depend how full a skirt I could get out of it 🙂
With the black galaxy knit, I would make a top from one of the Jalie patterns I just ordered.
How fun! I think the Black Galaxy print is my favorite, I’d use it to make one of the many Burda magazine blouses on my to-do list.
What a neat idea for a giveaway. The rouge grosgrain ribbon is my favorite. If I were to win it, I think I would make a small tote bag and sew the grosgrain onto the fabric handles as an accent.
What great encouragement and thank you – love to sew a simple knee length straight skirt in black galazy spot for jazzing up a pink polo shirt – McCalls Jacket 4972 would also look great in this fabric. An ankle length assymetric v-yoke draped skirt in Willow would also look stunning for that girl’s luncheon.
I would love the Japanese cotton, which I would use to make up some cute dresses/tops for the baby girl we have arriving in December…just in time for a long hot summer!

I am so excited about your giveaway. I live in Townsville NQ where the quality of our fabric shops is limited. I visited your store for the first time in July and was like a kid in a lolly shop. My poor husband became a pack horse. I would love the black galaxy spot to make a shirt to team with the black wool that I bought from your store to make a pair of pants. We are going to Ireland for Christmas and think a splash of colour would look great especially as the weather will be cold and gloomy. I also believe that it will be easy to care for whilst travelling as it is a knit and they are always comfortable to wear. Many thanks. My fingers are crossed!
Oh I think I would need to spend quite some time simply stroking and gazing at that trim! Then I would use it to trim the sides or hems of some pants for my little boy to crawl in.
What fun! I like the cue-tee Japanese cotton…I would use it to make a whimsical blouse…a going-on-a-picnic sort of blouse. And because it has short sleeves, I would have enough fabric left over to make a floppy summer hat…actually, I would probably make the hat first and hope I had enough left over for a blouse, because I really want a floppy hat…Zimmermann have some lovely hats at the moment, which has me reviewing my hat-pattern stash.
I like all the fabrics, but I would have to say that the black one and the teal print are my favorites. Lately I have been making some comfy, lay around, sleep-in shorts. That is one possibility, or a nice blouse. I would have to think it over to be sure about it though. Fantastic ribbon also. Oh! the possibilities.

OK, I’m a knit-chick working on my first “wardrobe capsule”, fancy speak for making a few thing that actually match. Black, white, red initially, and then adding in pinks. So far 2.5 garments done, yippee.
I simply adore that Galaxy black print and would love to win it and put it to good use immediately. Happy to show pics of finished product with one proviso……you’re not allowed to look inside any garment I sew!!!
It’s sooooo difficult to find lovely knits anywhere, will you be putting yours on your website, I do hope so.

*Practically drooling* The designs are truly to die for. Hmm? what would I make out of it? Laptop sleeves! With matching pencil cases! I’m a Software Engineer here in Malaysia, my destress mode is crafting, and I think those fabrics will brighten everyone’s desks in the office. Yey!

First time reader and it is already on my favorites.
I have just arrived back in Aus from living in Spain for 2 years and hope to continue my fav past time- sewing- as soon as my machines arrive back home.
I would create a cute spring dress-strapless bodice with a gently flowing skirt to the knee. I would use either the Cute Floral- Japanese cotton or the Willow- viscose georgette. Simply Spring.

Hi there. I have just made up a heavy knit winter top in New Look 6754 view E and think The ‘Cue-tee floral’ would make a fantastic summer version. The print and colour combo is just gorgeous – and it will go with so many taupe/white/blue summer bottoms (and jeans, of course). Many thanks for the offer.
The Japanese cotton would be perfect for all those Burda WOF blouse patterns in my to-do list. I tend to not buy blouse fabrics to stash and so, of course, my stash is severely lacking on those. And my wardrobe is lacking the blouses.
This is great! Count me in for the ‘Autumn Strokes’ Crepe De Chine! I think it would look great on a top and the matching lining on a jacket!
I love the red galaxy fabric and the red grossgrain trim! I am learning how to sew, and since fabric can be expensive, I have taken to using small pieces to make purses. However, that galaxy piece sounds like it would be good for a pair of shorts! I’d use the trim for purse handles 🙂 maumauisginger at gmail dot com

A lovely sewing friend gifted me with a devine lil japanese sewing book so I would use one of the patterns from this to create a lil summer dress (halter?maybe?) and some bloomers for my lil girl
as theres 1.7ms im pretty sure I could squeez a top or short summer shift dress for myself out of it too

ooooh aaaaaah, love all the fabrics so I can’t pick one. If I do win, surprise me 😀 I caught word of your blog and giveaway from iris at ideyspidey and I I’m really enjoying it! As for what I would make, I really can’t tell you because I like to feel the fabric and see it right there in front of me. Just like on CSI where the body ‘tells’ them who did it, I let the fabric tell me what to make. I like to put it amongst my other fabrics and let soulmates find each other to make the perfect combinations. And I would send some iris’s way because I love seeing what she does! sorry for the essy

I would love to receive the willow fabric. I think it would look lovely in the Burda top featured in 3/2008 style 109. I think that by making some summer clothes it might lift me from my winter gloom.

I would like the Black Galaxy Spot – I love the print & it has pink (my fav. colour). I would probably sew NewLook 6729 wrap top with ties.
The willow georgette fabric is definitely my favourite but I’ve never sewed with georgette before so I’m not sure how things work with it. I would love” to make a little blouse like in the retrospective is stylish” japanese pattern book I have with contrast facings and buttons but it the fabric isn’t quite right for it or it’s too drapey to waste on a blouse, I think I would go with a pretty little skirt…

Hi – I would choose the Cue-tee floral and make a dress for this summber for my daughter.
These are all so pretty and it is my favourite part of sewing to squeeze as much garmet as possible into a limited amount of fabric.
I would love replace a well worn “vogue 8028” dress with the silk crepe. I would probably have to sacrifice sleeves to leave enough fabric for an obi belt and the fuller skirt.
I would use the Black knit to make the new raglan cap sleeve top that is featured in BWOF August.
I just noticed the ribbon. I would use the neutral ribbon to trim the waist line seam in my daughter’s dress. Maybe even leave enough to tie a bow, and let the ends stream down the front.
oh… but, i love it all!

it’s it alright if i say i’m not partial to any of those fabrics because i think they’re all lovely and would love to sew some up into an awesome top or mini dress!
but, if i had to choose… well, i’d say the japanese cotton, or the autumn strokes… and the willow… and i do love all grosgrain. it’s true. i remember when you posted about this awhile ago and have been wanting to get my hands on some! i love that stuff! haha!

I love the Japanese cotton. I think it would make a lovely blouse using the new Sewing Workshop/Louise Cutting Shapes one pattern.
WOW, now that I have seen the willow chrushed cardi post, that is what I would like to make! I usually go for more tailored patterns so would love the chance to try out something in a lightweight material. The willow fabric looks very summery, chic and so pretty. May I ask what pattern you used and how you finished off the edging? The other design idea I was tempted by is BUTTERICK B4989. Thanks for the blog – its gr8.
I would like the Autumn Strokes crepe de chine as I think it is simply lovely. I see it as a drapey romantic trapeze dress, that moulds itself to ones' form when one walks. I see it cinched in with a wide self fabric belt & embelished with fabric covered buttons. Perhaps a touch of tea-stained lace on the buttons would enhance the romantic feel of the dress.

I live in a small remote town where the build-up has just arrived & I'm so excited about finding these new fabrics available online. I think the Japanese cotton will make a fantastic top.
