Free PDF Tessuti Apron Pattern
Here’s a pattern that’s been on our must-do list for a while now. It goes like that, until the right time, which definitely feels like now. So here it is – our new Tessuti Apron, and it’s FREE in PDF version!
We’ve put all the elements that make a perfect apron into this perfect apron pattern. It’s a throw-on style that gives both comfort and great coverage. There’s a square neck and shoulder straps which gradually widen into the classic cross-back.
Turned and hemmed edges are fantastically durable and a roomy front pocket provides for all your pocketing needs.
We love this handy apron for any type of tasking/making/creating but we love it just as much as a cute tunic-style over pants and dresses.
A fantastically quick sew, you’ll be able to whip up this simple and useful apron for yourself or someone special.
The pattern is now available in PDF format which includes print-at-home and actual size copy shop files. It comes in one size and is free!
*UPDATE* We’ve had quite a few enquiries for the pattern to be available in hard copy printed version so for a limited time, you can now purchase a hardcopy pattern online.
Thank you for the gorgeous (free) pattern 🙂 I also love the pant worn under the Bedford cayenne linen – which pattern is that please?
Thank you 🙂 Dawn
They are the model’s own RTW striped denim pants
Thank you so much for this generous gift!
I made myself a pinny just two weeks ago from my partners old jeans, but your pattern is much better resolved in the back, so I will make another in this style.
Take care in these strange times. And thanks again x
Absolutely the best! Pattern was easy to put together, instructions easy to follow. I didn’t have a serger for the few raw edges, just zigzagged! I made mine with army green organic linen. I’ll be back for more. By the way, I wear size 18 and it works for me! Tried to send a pic of the finished product, couldn’t figure out how. ?
Love this, have made 2 so far… in a pink gingham retro left over… and then a big bloswsy linen print. Makes household chores feel exciting! If I could work out how to send a photo….
We’d LOVE to see a photo! Just email is fabrics@tessuti.com.au
I love your pattern , thank you for sharing can’t wait to make it up.
Was your fabric more of a cotton? Wondering if cotton would work well for this pattern. Thanks!
HI Tina. We used a linen but cotton works perfectly
I can’t download. Is this still available
You can still download the pattern here – https://www.tessuti-shop.com/products/tessuti-apron-pattern-one-size
why doe sit require PayPal information to download a free copy?
No payment details are taken for free PDF patterns
This looks great. I want to give it a go.
I’m a petite size 10. Wondering if this one size will work for me. If anyone has any tips to adapt the pattern to make it a wee bit smaller, that would be ace.
Hi
Love this pattern and have made many for friends.
Do you have a child’s pattern in this style?
Hi Dawn. Thanks for the feedback and glad you love it! We don’t offer a child size version of the apron but you could try printing it a reduced scale as I know of a couple of people who have tried this with great success.
Such a beautiful pattern – thank you for sharing. Do you happen to have instructions on how to add a lining so it’s reversible. I hate hemming ??
The apron is so cute! Thanks Tessuti.
It’s a gorgeous pattern…..and seems not to want to download
Hi Christina, update your Adobe Reader on your computer, then restart your computer again. Works everytime 🙂
regards
Colette
I love it! Thank you for the pattern. I can’t wait to make it up.
It is not working on my phone either??
It is a must have!!
Hi Sue,
Please see my response to Madeleine.
best regards
Colette
Thanks a million for this fantastic pattern, just love it.
Gorgeous
Are those Tessuti pants…both the striped ones and the deep yellow one? I might have the pattern already
I have wanted to make an apron like this for ages. The difficult bit is choosing the fabric. Thanks for the free pattern
Apron pattern looks fab. Thankyou!
Thank you so much for your free PDF patterns- as a “new to sewing” sewist, stuck at home in lockdown in South Africa I have put together scraps of fabric to practice and having your patterns has been a lifesaver for my sanity. Thank goodness we have a printer at home.
Our pleasure Martha, and so glad we can help in whatever small way…
Thank you for this great pattern! I Have been wanting to make this style of apron for a while, exactly to wear as a pinafore over a dress. Your patterns are always so well done—I am very appreciative!
You’re welcome Helen! Happy sewing.
Thank you for the awesome pattern! I’ve been looking for a cute (and practical) apron just like this. It would be nice to know the measurements of the model to get an idea of how it might fit on me and whether I might have to make any adjustments to it. Thanks!
Hi Trish,
The best way would be to run a quick toile/muslin up. No need to sew it together, just pin straps to the body and try on yourself. It’s an apron front and has plenty room to suit many sizes. It can be adjusted (if needed) by lengthening the straps, adding a bit to centre front and through the sides (under the arms) etc. If you need to lengthen, you can add from the hemline.
Love it! Since one size fits all still has limits, do you have an idea of what the upper limit for hips might be for this pattern? Thanks so much!
Hi Janice,
Please see my response to Trish above.
Thank you for the apron pattern, sadly the actual pattern pieces arent downloading, just blank pages in the pdf.
instructions and layout all there.
I’m unsure why this may be.
Cheers
Hi Madeleine, Are you looking at the file on your iPhone? Try scrolling up and down, you will see that the file uploads after a while. The blank pages appearing has more to do with your device not the file.
It works best if you download the file to your computer desktop with the latest Adobe Reader uploaded to it. After updating your computer, turn your computer off and on again.
best regards
Colette
PS. Just tested the very same file sent to you, on my home computer and printer, works perfectly!
Thank you Colette and Silva – so serendipitous, last week I was overcome with the desire to make aprons, and here you are magically conjuring the apron of my dreams (no apron strings!!! a literal and metaphorical relief!). The sun is up, the fabric on the table …. Keep safe and well.
Love this pattern. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I found that if I lengthened the straps it made more room for the “fuller” figure. Many thanks.
Appreciate you sharing this pattern. I’ve now made two aprons and as a result … more cotton… more fabric…etc. Well done!!
you’re welcome Danielle
I just made one up in a moss green pure linen. Love it!! Gorgeous pattern. I am 63 kgs and 163cm tall and it fits perfect. Very forgiving apron. Will fit a smaller or larger frame with ease. I want to wear it all the time so better make another one. Thankyou Tessuti.
I enjoyed making the apron. I fully lined it with a different patterned fabric, but still 100 percent cotton. It can be worn reverse as well. I gave it to my niece for her birthday today. She is thrilled. She has named it her “Annabel Crabb in the kitchen” I had also given her a pink faux pearl necklace to wear. I have started my next one. Thank you. I do need a pattern for her children too. Sizes 2 – 12 years.
Best wishes
Thank you! I made an apron like this as a teen, and I have wanted one like it for a long time, but couldn’t find a pattern! If it weren’t that postage to the US would cost more than the fabric, I would have ordered that here, as well!
Hello Ellen. Do you happen to have instructions on how you did the lining. Thank you
I’m very much entry level, so please pardon this question if it comes off dumb: How many yards of fabric should I purchase to make this pattern? Thank you!
Hi Jessica. The meterage is provided on the product page:
https://www.tessuti-shop.com/products/tessuti-apron-pattern-one-size?_pos=1&_sid=12ef85c86&_ss=r
You will need 1.45m for 112cm wide fabric and 1.1m for 140cm wide
Do I leave the space on the papers in between the numbers letters as in the layout guide (is this the seam
Allowance ? Or do ignore the space & connect together
I will try to send a picture of what I have done
Hi Sue. We’ve put together this how-to blog post which talks you through the PDF assembly process
https://blog.tessuti.com.au/2015/04/a-how-to-print-at-home-and-copy-shop/
hello, I want to know where I can find this free pattern
Hi Gabriela. You can download it here – https://www.tessuti-shop.com/products/tessuti-apron-pattern-one-size
Where are the sewing instructions? I printed the pattern.
Hi Rhonda. The sewing instructions can be downloaded via a seperate link which is included in the email we sent you containing the pattern pieces. If you’re unable to locate them, please email us fabrics@tessuti.com.au
Has anyone added buttons to the back to be able to wear it as a dress?
Thank you for the free pattern. I have bought the required amount of fabric at 112 cm wide, but when folded in half the body of the pattern is to wide to fit the fabric.
Hi Catherine. Are you laying it out on the cross grain? Check the layout guide and, as noted on the product page, it (112cm wide fabric) must be cut on crosswise grain and not suitable for directional prints in this width. Feel free to email us fabrics@tessuti.com.au if you have any further difficulties
Hi Lisa, thank you for your reply. I managed to cut it out afterwards by cutting the pieces out separately with a seam down the front and top stitching it. This was fine as the fabric was not directional. I had enough fabric left over to make a bowl cosy. I am delighted with the result.
Thank you so much for the pattern. Can’t wait to make it!
Thank you for the pattern so looking forward to make one
Hi. Thank you for the free pdf pattern. Would like to know if the apron fits a person wearing size 8?
Hi Genevieve. Not sure if you’re referring to a UK, US or Australian size 8 but yes, it would fit all. If you wish for more room you can add some length to the straps.
Hi Lisa. Thanks for replying. Will definitely try this pattern.
Hi! I’m Kay from Virginia in USA. Love the pattern and tried to download. So far no luck. Please help a challenged person.
Hi Kay. You’ll need to go through the checkout process here – if you select the free PDF pattern option, we don’t take any payment details. Once you’ve completed that, we’ll email you the links which will include both the pattern pieces and the instructions. Please read this blog post which talks you though the printing/assembly process.
I hope that helps! If you have any further difficulties, please email us – fabrics@tessuti.com.au
I worked my way through it and received the pattern. Thank you so much. I have my own private summer and think this will adjust over leggings or slacks. Functional uses!
How would I make this fit a size 18 please? I adore it x
Hi Jane. As per Jo’s suggestion, you can add a piece of fabric between the apron body and strap.

Heads up in US…. Get out your ruler with centimeters on it. I had to print at 110% to get the 10cm square when printing from my iPad. Be sure to check the gauge ?
I love the pattern a lot! I made this apron in green, curry, stealblue, greybrown, light pink and denimblue for Christmas presents and what can I say my daughter and nieces were thrilled! I am so happy! I want to thank you for for this pattern!
As I am a beginner in sewing I have to ask you something. My daughter in law is a very small and fairy-like person and I want to adjust the pattern as the apron appears to be far too wide. Any idea how to do it?
Love to hear from you
Frauke, germany
Hi Frauke,
Apologies for the late reply. Feel free to email us directly, where we check emails daily. You may need to take some width out through centre front and down through the area under the arms just a little.
How do I DL this pattern? I am excited I found it. many thanks
Hi Sue. You can download from our website – https://www.tessuti-shop.com/products/tessuti-apron-pattern-one-size
Thank you for the pattern—turned out great. One point to clarify is that in Step 7 hem inner edge of strap it could be clearer to fold the first 1/4” fold over again before sewing. I only realized it when I was almost done with step 11. But it was easy enough to Insee and fix! Thanks again!
Good point Connie! Thanks so much for the feedback
Could I have a download of the free apron pattern
Helen,
You need to order the pattern online (even if free) you need to put in your email details to have the pattern files sent to you.
Hi Helen. You can download it from our website here
Hi Diane,
The meterage required can be found in the booklet and on the table in the images.
The table is in the images on the Tessuti Apron product page – https://www.tessuti-shop.com/collections/digital-sewing-pattern-downloads/products/tessuti-apron-pattern-one-size
Hi,
Thank you for this nice pattern 🙂
Can you tell how much fabric do we need to sew it ?
Thanks !
Hi Amina. The meterage is always supplied on the product page in our online store. Please refer to the pictured chart on this page
I cannot find anywhere where it states how much fabric is needed for this apron.
Hi Bethany. The fabric chart is pictured on the third image in the slideshow here – 1.45m for 112cm width or 1.1m for 140cm width
Thank you. I made this and it was so cute! What do you suggest for an XXL person. I’m not sure mine would fit my mom?
Hi Bethany and thanks for your lovely comment. Regarding your question, you can add in an extra piece where the straps join the apron body, as seen/described in this Frankie & Ray post here
Is there any possible way I could get a hard copy of the tessuti apron? I love it and want to make them for all my favourite women in my life.
Where do I download the PDF? Or where is the link to open so I can download
Hi Yvette. The link is included in the last paragraph of the blog post.
I would like to have this printed at a copy shop, however I can’t find the paper size info that I need to provide them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Judy. The sheet sizes are always listed on our product pages. You’ll note there that it states that the Copy Shop pattern is ‘One A0 size pattern sheet’
Hi Lisa,
This is so generous! I see that in some photos this apron covers one’s rear quite nicely while in others not so much. Is coverage determined to the model’s size relative to the pattern size, or is it more due to differences in body types? I like to wear leggings and I’m skinny but still like my derriere covered.
Dear Lisa, I am not sure how much fabric to purchase for the project. The meterage lists 112 cm-1.45 m and 140 cm-1.10 m. Do 112 cm and 140 cm refer to the widths of the raw fabric? Thank you.
That’s correct Kim – 112cm or 140cm refers to the fabric width
