Little Black Dress, Big Black Collar

Gabby recently came across & fell in love with this RTW dress. It’s a relatively simple style so Silva set out to replicate it for her and here’s the gorgeous result.
For the bodice, Silva used our Georgie Top pattern, adding a button extension overlap to the centre front for the button/buttonholes and giving some extra flare to the hem of the sleeve.
For that statement collar (which is really what this dress is ALL about) she used the collar piece from Nina Lee’s Bakerloo Blouse and Dress pattern.
The collar was modified to fit the Georgie Top neckline and, to end up with the proportions that Gabby wanted, the peaks were rounded off at both front and back. The skirt is just gathered rectangles with an added button extension for the front bodice.
The finishing touch was the rayon lace Ring Trim, inserted around the collar and to the hems of the sleeves and dress. The fabric is our 110gsm Linford Black Washed Linen (other colours here) and she used 2 metres.
