The Sew Inn @ Tessuti Surry Hills
Here’s some great news for our Sydney customers. By popular request, The Sew Inn will be starting at Tessuti Surry Hills this month. We’re keen to run various sewing classes from time to time and create a community style environment in the store where you can work alongside like-minded sewers, share tips and learn new skills. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (if there is enough interest) we’ll have sewing classes facilitated by the talented Georgia. She’s very excited about teaching what she knows about sewing and helping you create similar garments to her creations from earlier posts.
Upcoming classes are:
Perfect Dress Vogue 8184 – Basic sewing skills required.
Class dates: Tuesdays – March 9th,16th and 23rd.
This is a great pattern and silhouette for a summer sundress, vintage 50’s inspired frock or stunning cocktail dress as there are six variations to choose from. In the first session, you’ll make a calico muslin of the bodice and get assistance as needed to help adjust the pattern to suit your shape. The following two sessions will allow you to cut out and sew your dress.
3 x 2.5 hour sessions (10am-12.30pm)
$149
***************************
Easy McCalls 5050 – Beginner or Basic sewing skills required.
Class dates: Thursday – March 11th and 18th
Georgia has made this top pattern up into a longer sleeved version, jersey t-top and into a summer dress. You can choose which variation you would like to make.
2 x 2.5 hour sessions (10am-12.30pm)
$99
Note: groups will be limited to a maximum of 5 students and sewing machines will be supplied. You’ll need to bring your pattern (also available in store), suggested fabric and notions to complete your style choice. If required, Georgia can provide guidance regarding suitable fabrics (you’ll need to arrange this prior to class), fabric scissors, pins, thread, tape measure etc. If you forget something, you’ll be able to take advantage of a super special class discount of 15% off any purchases (excluding patterns) made at Tessuti on the day of the class.
To avoid disappointment, we recommend you book early. A 50% deposit will be required to secure booking and if you need to cancel a fee will be charged if we cannot fill your place. To book into Georgia’s classes or have any queries please email Colette at fabrics@tessuti.com.au.
PS. Look out for future evening and Saturday classes at The Sew Inn. I’ll post details here on the blog very soon.
I love both patterns. How I wish I lived in Australia so that I could join in the fun. Not sure I could justify the long haul flights from the UK for the classes. Not right now…
what a shame I dont have day care for my toddler otherwise I would sew (hehe) be in on these classes!
the dress is smashing and the top so versatile!
Ditto Sarah-Jo…I too have a toddler in tow. Perhaps another time.
Great idea though!
maybe not this year but next year seems a good time to improve sewing skills and maximise my 10 year old sewing machine. saturday classess seem appealing at this time.
