Pattern Review – New Look 6594

In these busy days with the lead up to the Tessuti Awards and preparing for the arrivals of our Italian and Japanese shipments, I haven’t had much opportunity to catch up with Georgia to have our fun photoshoots/pattern reviews in and around Sydney….I’m really looking forward to more planned through the coming months.

So with the warmer days ahead and all the gorgeous summer prints due in soon, I thought it was time to post Georgia’s gathered skirt made in one of our Japanese cotton prints that she finished at the end of last summer. The pattern used was New Look 6594, a super easy gathered skirt with yoke waistband. The New Look catalogues are now in all our Tessuti stores and their patterns are all only $10.50! Allow a week for us to order the patterns in for you (we can also mail them out to you).

Georgia made the gathered version up in Japanese cotton ‘Navy Skylights’ (sold out) – she adjusted the pattern slightly by adding an inverted pleat to the centre front and back and making a double hem facing at the bottom of the skirt. Georgia edged the top of the double hem and bottom of yoke with a fold trim
(cut on the straight grain and without piping cord) made from a contrast fabric ‘Indi Sushi’ similar to our ‘Imazu’ spot range. It adds a nice touch doesn’t it?

Enjoy your weekend everyone 🙂

Ps. Forgot to mention that Georgia’s great top is a shorter sleeved version from this pattern in our Italian 100% mercerised cotton knit in ‘Plum Delight’.
