You may (or may not) remember my post a while back introducing you to The Maker’s Journal? Well, we’re loving Pamela’s patterns so much we’re now stocking a limited selection. Now available online, in Surry Hills (and soon in Melbourne), we’re sure you’ll find one to fancy.
Last month, Pamela joined us at Tessuti Melbourne to host a Freddie Vest Sew Inn class. I loved this pattern from the moment I saw it, so went along and here’s my version…
The vest front is made from a current range, double-sided linen called Two Faced Como. The floral lining is a Japanese cotton remnant from way back and the (not real but very rock star) leather back is a small stash find that had been patiently waiting for the perfect project. The Freddie Vest is inspired by the late, great Freddie Mercury after all…
And so, the class was such a great success we’ve decided to do another one. Details are as follows and if you’re interested, please read the following details carefully as we do not offer refunds or transfers on cancelled class bookings:

Freddie Vests made in the class? Check out Anna’s (she modified her pattern, adding the belt on the outside)…
…and Janet’s (below)…
Love them? If you’re in Melbourne, come join us on Sept 1st.
What a super chic Freddie Vest. Love the contrasting floral and spotted lining on Janets too! Hopefully I can convince Pamela to come up to Sydney and do a Freddie Vest class at Surry Hills.
Gosh what a great pattern. I wish I had the Rewards Points to come Australia for the first time. A great pattern like this could be so fun to do in different iterations. It looks like it's for wovens only. Am I right? Could you use a knit? A vinyl? I have ideas. I might have to do a sew-a-long from afar.
Love the Freddie Vest! Equally, I would LOVE to know where to get some leather like that??
Hey Melanie
From memory, this was a poly version, and we only received a VERY small piece. You can purchase the real deal from Lefflers (West Melb) or NSW Leather (Colligwood). Failing that, I have something quite similar – in grey – currently in stock. If you'd like a sample posted to you, let me know.
Fabulous – thanks so much Lisa! I'll be popping in tomorrow so I'll check out whats in stock 🙂
