Colour blocking the Astrid Sundress
December 3, 2021

After yesterday’s release of our new Astrid Sundress pattern, we thought we’d share this colour blocked sample sewn up during our sampling phase which has turned out to be one of Colette’s favourites.

Using a combination of three of our Abby Check linens, we mixed, matched, played around with teeny tiny samples…

…until we finally settled on Tan, Navy and Olive. If you’d like to try something similar, here’s the meterage you’ll need:
Colour 1 (Abby Tan Check) – Shoulder Straps, 1/2 Front and 1/2 Back
112cm – 0.80m, 0.80m, 0.80m, 0.80m, 0.85m, 0.85m, 1.00m, 1.05m, 1.15m
140cm – 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.80m, 0.80m, 0.85m, 0.85m, 0.85m
Colour 2 (Abby Navy Check)– Front/Back Neck Band and Hem Panel
112cm – 2.10m, 2.10m, 2.10m, 2.20m, 2.25m, 2.25m, 2.25m, 2.30m, 2.30m
140cm – 1.15m, 1.20m, 1.20m, 1.85m, 2.05m, 2.05m, 2.05m, 2.30m, 2.30m
Colour 3 (Abby Olive Check) – 1/2 Front and 1/2 Back
112cm – 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m
140cm – 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.70m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m, 0.75m

The other variation we made with this version is that – instead of the hem panel featuring knife pleats – we attached a simple gathered ruffle. This dress has SO much potential for some excellent scrap busting and colour blocking fun and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I am trying to find a blog post you wrote about a vintage dressing gown pattern you made. Was it Butterick 3713? I cannot find it now, and want a link or a visual reference to it to help with a review I want to write for Pattern Review. Thanks.
Was it this one?
Yes, that is it. Many thanks.
Who can make it for me?
