OUR NEW ROMY TOP (and now!) DRESS PATTERN

It’s never nice to start out a blog post with bad news, but here it is – our Romy Top is no more. But let’s follow that up directly with the GREAT news – meet our new, updated, size-expanded and combined Romy Top & Romy Dress pattern!

Originally released in 2018, this pattern is every bit as wearable and contemporary as it was six years ago. The simple square neck and slight A-line silhouette is completely timeless as well as being summer garment perfection.

In Romy Version 2.0, we’re also giving you the option for a midi-length dress with those all-important pockets.

Over the years, Romy proved to be fantastically modifiable, more so than any other Tessuti sewing pattern we’ve ever released. So much so we even introduced a #RomyTopHack Instagram hashtag. Not long after the pattern’s original release, Lisa made this Romy-Top-To-Dress, adding a gathered skirt and substituting the pattern’s rouleau loop straps for a simple grosgrain ribbon.

And if you prefer the look of this slightly wider strap, you’ll be pleased to know that our new instructions also provide two strap options – shoestring or wide (and better with bra) straps.

In 2021, Colette made her own modified Romy Top-To-Dress by adding two gathered tiers. To do this she cropped the bodice to a finished length (from centre front) of 41cm/16″ and then added the two piece gathered skirt which comprised a mid panel (cut 2 x 35.5cm/14″) and lower panel (cut 2 x 51cm/20″ x 140cm/55″).

The Romy Top is an all ’round winner with shorts, pants, jeans & skirts. Below is Gabby wearing a super linen cute set with Robbie Pants (side pockets instead of patch pockets).
